I bow down to him who breathes out the Veda and createtes the universe from it, remaining uninvolved, and who is the cherished shrine of pilgrimage for all the streams of knowledge.

Indian culture and civilization from ancient times has been based on the wisdom of the Vedas. The Vedic Village has been created to introduce you to this unique and supremely refined culture.
The Vedic Village is an eco-friendly, spiritual and cultural retrait, close to the Aliyar Damlake in Tamil Nadu, India, known for its scenic beauty and pleasant climate troughout the year.
Why the Vedic Village?
India's timeless spiritual culture has its basis in the Vedas - its rich heritage of spiritual traditions is carrying and spreading the essence of India's ancient wisdom to the world.
The Vedic tradition to gain knowledge through exploration of consciousness was developed by the great Rishis (seers) and sages of India, who first expressed this knowledge and passed it on over thousands of years in what is now the oldest, continuous tradition of knowledge in existence.
The idea for the “Vedic Village” was conceived by a group of like minded individuals who share a combined vision to create a place with an atmosphere highly conducive for spiritual growth and dissemination of Vedic knowledge. In the realization of the Vedic Village we - as the promotors of the “Vedic Village”, coming from different regions of India, from the North and from the South - have been supported by a group of close friends from Europe. The Vedic saying "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam" - the world is one family - expresses our hope that all of you - who will be visiting and staying at the Vedic Village - will become part of the “Vedic Village” family.
The truth of Vedic wisdom is by its very nature independent of time and can therefore never be completely lost : India has seen many times its revival and we feel fortunate to live at a time when the whole world is witnessing the renaissance of Vedic wisdom. Our pranams go to the Vedic Tradition of Masters, to all family traditions, scholars and acharyas of the various Vedic disciplines and especially to Maharishi Mahesh Yogi who with his Vedic Science has inspired and initiated the worldwide revival of Vedic knowledge.

“Vedic Village” Offers
Vedic Culture
The foundation of Vedic culture is "Sanatana Dharma", eternal Truth. Dharma is that invincible power of nature which upholds existence - it mantains evolution and forms the very basis of cosmic life. Vedic culture promotes that 'science of being and art of living' which enables man to live in full accordance with the laws of nature and to express the very purpose of creation- the expansion of happiness.
"Out of bliss these beings are born
In bliss they are sustained and in the end
In bliss they go and merge again."
- Taittiriya Upanishad -
All the different aspects and disciplines of Vedic Culture like its education, architecture, health system, music, dance etc. have one common goal: To cultivate and unfold the full potential of man and thereby help him to rise to supreme accomplishments.
All the cherished traditions of Vedic learning have been handed down in time as an oral tradition from generation to generation, from father and mother to their sons and daughters , from the teacher to the student Even if great rishis and sages have formulated and laid down all the basic principles of Vedic learning in the shastras ( scriptures ) it was always stated that Vedic teachings- to be complete and reliable - has to be based not only on written information but on personal instruction and experience.
To introduce you to this ancient and yet-in its universality-timeless culture we have designed "Vedic Weeks at the Vedic Village":
Each day of the week will be dedicated to one of the disciplines of Vedic Science and its art forms like for example Ayurveda, Yoga, classical Indian music and dance. This enables you to explore the truths of Vedic wisdom, expand your consciousness and knowledge and thereby lay the foundation for a more healthy, happy and fulfilled life.
"Life is bliss" is the underlying message of the Vedas and to manifest this more and more in your daily life is the purpose of your stay at the “Vedic Village”.
Ayurveda
Ayurveda, the science of life, stems from the Vedic civilization of India and stands as the most ancient and comprehensive health system in the world. The term Ayurveda combines two Sanskrit words - Ayus, which means life, and Veda, which means knowledge or science.
"Ayurveda is eternal, without beginning and end, because the laws of life are universal and timeless". - Charak Samhita -
Ayurveda, based on the timeless knowledge for enlivening the unlimited inner intelligence of mind and body has been practiced in India since thousands of years; it has been passed on from generation to generation as an oral tradition and later also in written form. Since in recent centuries the holistic approach of Ayurveda became lost, even in India mainly a fragmented form has been practiced in recent times.
At the end of the 1970s the Indian sage Maharishi Mahesh Yogi inspired and initiated the revival of Ayurveda. Under his guidance a number of India's most renowned and experienced Ayurvedic physicians came together to share their knowledge, to integrate the proven methods of the various family traditions and to restore the science of Ayurveda to its original wholeness.
In addition to this the guardians of long held secret formulas and procedures in many traditional Ayurvedic families were motivated by Maharishi to share their wisdom for the first time. By now Ayurveda has spread throughout the world and is recognized and practiced worldwide as a unique, holistic and most profound health system.
Ayurveda at the “Vedic Village” starts with a personal consultation by a Vaidya (physician).
The Vaidya will assess your health requirements; will give personal recommendations and the specific treatments for the week. We are fortunate that the location of the Vedic Village is close to several of the most reputed and famous Ayurvedic centers of South India and we therefore will be able to provide authentic treatments in its traditionally pure form. Ayurvedic treatments at the “Vedic Village” focus mainly on preventive health care - for chronic and serious ailments we recommend Maharishi Ayurveda clinics or any of the reputed, traditional Ayurvedic Centers.
If during your stay at the “Vedic Village” you are interested in the services of our "Dhanwantari Nilayam " (Ayurvedic unit) please mention it in your application.
